Children’s Programs for infants to 6^th graders at the Davis UMC:
 

Summer is almost over. As the mornings grow cooler and the leaves begin to change color, we begin to prepare for fall. Fall is a busy season for families as children head back to school. Our church life grows busier as well, as we resume our Godly Play Sunday School program for children Pre-K through sixth grade.

We officially kick off the start of our 2008-2009 Godly Play year on RALLY DAY, Sunday, September 7^th. As in the past, we will have three Godly Play classes: one for children Pre-Kindergarten, one for children in the 1-3^rd grades and one for older children 4-6^th grade. We will be adding some new stories to our curriculum this year, focusing on women of the Bible. I do hope your children will join us as they learn and wonder about the holy.

 Following the 11 a.m. worship service on the 7^th, everyone is invited to a picnic lunch in the church play yard. We’ll provide the hot dogs, salads and dessert. There will be fun activities planned for the children. Parents can register their children for Godly Play at the picnic and we will answer any questions you may have about the program.

 I’m delighted to share that seven members of our church attended the recent Godly Play Teacher Accreditation Training held here at our church: Alice Harvey, Cid Barcellos, Adalyn Fyhrie, Mantu Joshi, Jules Knudsen, Hosea Matel and Mary Northup. 

 The training, spread over three days, is an intensive 18-hour program and is quite a commitment. So thank you to all of those from our church who attended the training and we welcome each of them into our Godly Play program. We are so blessed!

    Our Godly Play Leaders for this year are:
 Pre-K:  Alice Harvey, Jules Knudsen, Mary Northup, Fran Leistikow and Andra Northup
1-3^rd Grade:  Annie Holte, Cid Barcellos, Addie Fhyrie and Julia Newcomb
4-6^th Grade:  Hosea Matel and Clara Comingore
Substitutes:  Lisa Papagni, Jerry Beaman, Jean Becket, Caroline Chantry, Bev Ballard and Patty Rominger

 This year, we will incorporate some of the Godly Play lessons into our church worship services. On RALLY DAY, September 7^th, I will be telling a Godly Play lesson for our Children’s Moment during both worship services. Hopefully, this will give everyone more of an opportunity to experience what our Godly Play program is like.
