The theme of May forums is immigration.  This is one of the three themes that Service & Justice Committee will emphasize this year.

May 26.  “The Child Welfare System—Part of the Child Abuse Problem, or Part of the Solution?” with John Myers.  John will address the child welfare system in Yolo County: Child Protective Services, Foster Care, Juvenile Court, Court Appointed Special Advocates, Law Enforcement, Mental Health, Medicine. How well is the child welfare system working to prevent child maltreatment, and, when prevention fails, to protect children?  John is a law professor at McGeorge School of Law and teaches courses on child welfare at many law schools around our region and the state.
