Adult Bible Study – Rothe Room

July 21’s Topic: “Jesus Teaches About Transforming Love”

July 28’s Topic: “Jesus Teaches About Spiritual Discernment”

Contemporary Issues Forum – Walker Room

This July and August the Contemporary Issues Forum will be dedicated to reading and discussing the book “Love in a Time of Climate Change.” The author, Sharon Delgado, is a retired United Methodist minister and social justice activist who has preached several times at DUMC. She notes that the people who will be most devastated by climate change (“them”) are not the ones responsible for causing climate change (“us”). Her book addresses two questions from a Methodist theological and moral perspective: why should “we” care about the environment, and why should we care about “them”?

Please contact Jim Cramer (cramerjc@gmail.com) if you wish to purchase the book; if Jim orders 5 or more books at Avid Reader, he will receive a 20% discount.

On July 21, there will be no Forum meeting. Instead, Advocacy Day will feature postcard and letter writing to elected officials and will take place in Fellowship Hall between services at 9:45am.

On July 28, the Summer Reading Series will resume with chapter 7 of Sharon Delgado’s book.
