The Davis Chorale presents its spring concert “Stars” on Saturday, May 11 at 7 pm in the Brunelle Performance Hall of Davis High School. “Stars” is inspired by Eriks Esenvald’s choral composition of the same title. Written in 2011 for eight-part choir with water-tuned glasses, which create an out of this world, ethereal, pure sound, it sets the tone for the program’s themes Majesty, Rest, Peace and Hope. The concert pairs three baroque style cantatas with string accompaniment by Telemann, Handel, and Mendelssohn with several choir works of the last 20 years by composers such as Eric Whitacre, Ola Gjeilo and Frank Ticheli.
The Davis Chorale is directed by Alison Skinner and accompanied by strings and by LuAnn Higgs on the piano and harpsichord.
Tickets can be purchased from Chorale members or at the door. Open seating prices are $20.- general and free for persons 18 years old or younger.
