Nan McCurdy and Miguel Mairena’s work in Nicaragua involved developing programs with youth and women focused on education, women’s health, economic empowerment, prevention of violence, promotion of gender equity and other human rights, and a youth-run community radio station. They worked with hundreds of Volunteer in Mission teams and have educated about topics like US-Nicaragua relations, the Eternal (External) Debt, Free vs Fair Trade and the root causes of migration from Central America. This summer, they are teaching the Latin America Study for United Methodist Women at Mission U.
Please come and meet these dedicated mission advocates who will help us learn more about issues in Central America and how to participate in global mission work there.
