Julia is the Director of Music Ministries and Director of Children’s Ministries at DUMC. She holds a Bachelor of Music with a focus in Piano from Missouri State University. Julia grew up in Springfield, Missouri where music, church, and piano were her bread and butter. She began formal piano lessons at age 5 and was trained in the Suzuki method until she graduated high school. Growing up, she sang in the children’s choir, youth choir, and the auditioned Camerata ensemble at First & Calvary Presbyterian Church. As the Music Ministries Intern at F&C, she directed children’s choirs and was responsible for weekly lesson planning for preschool Bible class. She studied organ, piano, and voice in college, accompanied many different musical and vocal ensembles, and graduated in Spring of 2017.
Julia and her high school sweetheart turned husband Miles moved from Missouri to California in the fall of 2017, and now live in South Davis with their dear cat. She loves to read, spend time with her friends and family, explore beautiful California with her husband, and make music whenever she can. Julia believes that music in a church is not a performance, but rather about glorifying God with a joyful noise!
