After graduating from UCD in 2013 with a BA in Music Theory/Composition, Andrew served for two years as music director at Loomis United Methodist Church while he sorted out his career goals. He then enrolled at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and graduated in 2017 with an MM degree in choral conducting. He returned to Davis, worked at Davis Community Church in summer 2017, and was hired as Music Director at DUMC in October. He also works as substitute teacher in Davis public schools (half time), artistic director for Davis Children’s Chorale (part time), and choir director for a before-school program for children in grades 3 to 6. In his spare time Andrew sings with the Vocal Art Ensemble and the UCD Early Music Ensemble.
Andrew has another passion and skill besides music – – origami. He has published dozens of designs in origami magazines and anthologies, has co-authored two books, and has exhibited and taught at origami conferences around the U.S. and in Singapore, Colombia, and other countries. He frequently teaches at the monthly meetings of the Davis Origami Group. Many church members gratefully possess innovative and colorful creations by Andrew.
